We like to think of ourselves as guardians of the land and biodiversity in the Valpantena valley.
From the time of replanting our vineyards, we’ve been committed to growing grapes in a way that cares for the environment, both locally and on a broader scale. A large part of this has been substituting chemical fertilizers, weedkillers and pesticides with zero-impact methods.
From tending native grape varieties using time-honoured pruning techniques to implementing grass-growing between the rows of vines (which ensures constant nourishment for the vines and supports symbiosis between different species), to deploying sexual confusion as our main method of integrated pest control, we lovingly cultivate our land season by season.
We’ve been growing organic and living organic since before it became fashionable, because it’s part of our local grape-farming tradition.
After more than twenty years of sustainable farming, in 2020 we finally obtained official organic certification. Today, our whole production chain – from planting stocks to bottling the finished wine – is compliant with the most stringent protocols laid down by the EU Organic and USA NOP guidelines. In 2023, we were also awarded Equalitas sustainability certification.
Our work has always been driven by a deep sense of responsibility towards the land we live on. We also firmly believe that caring for the earth is a vital part of building a better future for everybody, one where development is sustainable both for people and for the environment. Our goal is to leave behind a better world for future generations.
This is why we work hard every day to operate sustainably, cultivating our vineyards in such a way as to preserve biodiversity and adopting the best practices for minimizing environmental impact.
At the same time, we also have a very strong belief in ‘working well’, and invest in training, safety and professional integrity.
We run our winery with responsibility and transparency, so that ethics are always a core value and govern our relationships with customers, suppliers, staff and the local community.
In 2023, we completed our journey by attaining the Equalitas SOPD sustainability certification for wine production chains. This recognition bears witness to our concrete commitment to the 17 objectives set by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Sustainability isn’t an end point; it’s a journey. We invite you all to join us in this walk towards a greener, safer and more prosperous future for everyone.
To make sure our words are backed up by actions, we’ve decided to make the reporting that proves our commitment to sustainability public.
